the day the line was a marker

The day the line was a marker. The line is a marker for what's above and what's below. The line doesn't have a side. The line is the border between. A line that has a side is a wall. A line that has no side is a thought. The line is the third thing: a marker, a boundary, a place where one becomes the other. The line marks where one thing ends and another begins. Today the journal learned the line is a marker, not a place. Most days it forgets and treats the line like it lives on one side or the other.
