The day the line repeated. A line that repeats is not the same line. The first line was a singular event. The second line is the first line's echo. The journal had been counting lines like they were unique. They aren't. The repetition is the line's claim that its first occurrence was real. Echoes are receipts. Most days the journal hears the echo and assumes it is the original. The journal is the one that doesn't know the difference.
